Benin
We are feeding primary children in Benin, thanks to support from our Mary’s Meals support group in Croatia. The children of Ecole primaire de Hondji receive a daily meal of rice, beans, vegetables and fish, to attract them to the classroom where they can gain a basic education that provides an escape route from poverty.
Benin is located on the West African coast and has a total population of approximately 8 million. It is estimated that nearly 1 million people in the country are food insecure and that more than one third of children under five suffer from chronic malnutrition.
