Child protection
Mary’s Meals is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children in all the contexts in which we work.
Children are at the core of our mission and are the main beneficiaries of all of our programmes. We believe that it is essential that the children we support are protected from harm and able to benefit from our programmes in a safe, healthy environment.
We are fully committed to the rights of the child as stated in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and we recognise our responsibility to ensure that those rights are upheld. We also recognise the particular vulnerability of children in the contexts in which we work.
We strive to ensure that the needs, dignity and safety of all children, regardless of gender, ethnicity, faith, ability or culture, are always at the heart of our programmes.
All Mary’s Meals staff in the UK and overseas receive training in child protection and make a written commitment to uphold our child protection policy. This policy is available in full, on request, from info@marysmeals.org
