Mary’s Meals Resources for the Classroom

We live in a fast-changing and increasingly interdependent world. The world is ‘shrinking’. Our lives and the lives of our children are increasingly shaped by what happens in other parts of the globe.

We at Mary’s Meals want to help you equip young people with the knowledge, understanding, skills and values needed to enable them to meet the challenges they will face in this 21st century.

We want to enable them to participate fully in ensuring their own and others’ well-being, while making a positive contribution both locally and globally.

Study of the lives of the children supported by Mary’s Meals provides a rich inter-departmental context for delivering many aspects of the modern curriculum, particularly in areas such as Global Citizenship, Religious & Moral Education (RME) and Enterprise.

A Mary’s Meal campaign can also be great focus for a school community and a way of bringing the values of your school together in a meaningful project.

We have put together some resources for teachers and others involved with education which we hope will be useful.

We have also included some exemplars simply to highlight the variety of ways in which schools have used Mary’s Meals as a context for delivering aspects of learning.

Additionally, Mary’s Meals is also delighted to announce the launch of its Professional Learning Community on Glow!

Glow is transforming the way the curriculum is delivered in Scottish schools. It breaks down geographical and social barriers and provides the tools to ensure a first class education for our pupils. Please log on and join us. Together we can share our ideas and resources to really make a difference!

You can explore and follow links on the right to relevant materials.
