To channel my mid-life crisis to something positive, over my 40th birthday year, I’m raising funds for Mary’s Meals. This will be used to sponsor a whole school, ensuring every child attending receives a meal every day for a whole school year.
Mary’s Meals is a Whitespace client and the Scottish-based charity is long-established, robust and effective, setting up long-term support in local communities and ensuring it is self-sustaining by buying food from local producers. They currently feed around 990,000 children every day and are aiming to increase this by 50% in the next three years.
It only costs £12.20 to feed one child for a whole school year, and amazing that a whole school of 139 children can be provided for, for less than £2,000.
