Why sponsor a specific school?

It’s a great way to give your fundraising a focus while helping to extend our school feeding programmes to more of the world’s poorest children.

Individuals, schools or groups can be matched with a school in Malawi, Liberia, Kenya or Zambia. The fundraising target is set depending on the number of children enrolled at the school you’d like to sponsor, and then it’s over to you!

It costs just £13.90 to feed a child with Mary’s Meals for a whole year, so you might be surprised at how quickly you can raise enough to change the prospects of a whole school.

A two-way link

Sponsor A School supporters receive annual updates on how the children are progressing, as well as having words of their choice painted on a sign on the kitchen wall.

The sign is a daily reminder to the children that the life-changing meal they receive is a gift and that you believe they deserve a prosperous future.

A living memorial for Louise

Louise Black was a successful sales consultant with Scott Dunn, a luxury travel company based in England.

But her life was cut short by a tragic accident.

Friends, family and her colleagues at Scott Dunn chose to commemorate her life by covering the annual cost of feeding every child at a school in Malawi – something they knew Louise would have appreciated.

Simon Russell, Managing Director at Scott Dunn, says, “Sponsoring a school has enabled us to support a project in an area we’re passionate about and where we send a number of guests, and at the same time provide a permanent memorial to a much loved member of our team.”

Having fun and helping too

Parishioners from St. John the Baptist Church in Uddingston, Scotland, have been supporting Mlambalala School in Malawi through Mary’s Meals for several years.

They’ve hosted fun days, golf tournaments, concerts, and monthly coffee mornings to raise the funds needed to provide a daily meal to the 480 children in the school.

“It’s amazing how much you can help while having fun at the same time,” says leader of the fundraising group Myleen MacKinnon.

“We’ve raised over £130,000 already and it’s good to know that all our little contributions are adding up to help children in the developing world attend school and start transforming their futures.”
