Get set and go with Mary’s Meals!

This adventure loving Italian couple are planning to drive across 10,000 miles of mountains, deserts and rough terrain over the summer to raise funds for Mary’s Meals.

Ilaria and Emanuele have signed up to the Mongol Rally, a marathon road trip which begins in London and ends in Ulan Bator, Mongolia.

Gift of giving

Instead of wedding gifts, newlyweds Amanda and Duncan MacInnes asked their guests to make a donation to Mary’s Meals – raising over £5,000 in the process!

“We honestly cannot think of a better gift than knowing that we are helping give children hope and reminding them that there are people across the world who care,” says Amanda.

The money raised will provide a daily meal for 327 children at the Omega Orphanage school in Liberia for a whole school year.

Reaching for the stars

We first met Emily from New Zealand last year when the ten-year-old found a special way to support Mary’s Meals through her passion for acting.

After starring in a series of quirky TV adverts, which attracted national media interest, the kind-hearted youngster decided to donate her earnings to Mary’s Meals.

Since then, Emily has managed to reach her target of raising £6,100 to sponsor Sawegbe Public School in Liberia, providing 500 children with a daily meal for an entire school year.

During her fundraising Emily not only managed to persuade the company she advertised for to match her donation, she also enlisted the help of her classmates to complete a series of fundraising drives. These included organising a coin trail and doing odd jobs at home.

Emily says: “I go to a school where nobody needs to worry about food, so it felt good to help another school who really need help. Just because we are lucky enough to live somewhere we don’t need to worry, doesn’t mean we can’t help others who have been born into poverty. In fact, I think we should all help.”

There are many different ways you can help – by donating your time, money, skills and prayers.
