Every mile counts in our journey From Dalmally To Malawi
Transform the lives of hungry children one challenge at a time this June
Are you joining us on our virtual journey From Dalmally To Malawi this summer? The campaign is a fantastic way to get active while raising vital funds to help us reach the next hungry child waiting for Mary’s Meals.
You can take part in any way you choose. Whether it’s walking, running, cycling or even swimming, the choice is completely up to you. Once you’ve made your decision, simply pledge how many miles you will complete during June and then it’s time to start fundraising!
Last year, one of our incredible supporters, Geraldine McFaul, walked all the way from her home in Glasgow to Rome. Covering an average of 12 miles a day to complete the mighty 2,000-mile journey, Geraldine spent nearly six months on the road and raised more than £5,750 for Mary’s Meals!
And the inspiration doesn’t stop there. Last month, Kathleen Sheridan, who is a Supporter Engagement Manager at Mary’s Meals, completed the London Marathon dressed as the shed where our mission first began. Running a total of 26.2 miles, Kathleen made the marathon look like a walk in the park and managed to raise more than £2,600 for Mary’s Meals.
Now, we don’t expect you to walk to Rome or run a marathon dressed as a shed but if you feel inspired, then why don’t you check out some of our challenges you can take part in during From Dalmally To Malawi?
Mary’s Meals challenges
1. Create your own Mary’s Meals masterpiece with Strava Art
Did you know the From Dalmally To Malawi family has its very own dedicated Strava group?
Become part of the community here and challenge friends, family and colleagues to see who can add the most miles towards Malawi!
We’re also encouraging people to create their very own Strava Art – can you walk, run or cycle around your neighbourhood in the shape of an ‘M’ or a Mary’s Meals mug? Share your masterpieces with the team!
2. Make a BIG impact
Do you think you’ve got what it takes to make the biggest difference to the lives of children living in the world’s poorest countries?
This year we’re looking to award the person who raises the most amount of money with a £40 Amazon gift voucher! If you’re someone who likes a bit of competition, then this one is for you.
3. Think outside the box
We love to watch everyone’s virtual journey to see what they get up to along the way. From walking to cycling and swimming, we encourage you to take part in whatever way you choose.
However, for the 2024 challenge we’re awarding the individual who creates the most unique fundraising activity with one of our new Mary’s Meals running shirts. Made from sustainable fabric, the t-shirt is designed to support peak performance for runners of every ability.
The more adventurous the activity is, the better! And don’t forget to tag Mary’s Meals on social media so we can inspire other fundraisers taking part in the challenge.
4. Maximise your miles on the longest day of the year
Join the Mary’s Meals family and maximise your miles with us on 20 June, the longest day of the year!
We’re encouraging people across the UK to make the most of the extended daylight and get up and active for sunset, or at sunrise!
On June 20, you’ll have more sunshine – and more time – to change a child’s life with Mary’s Meals. And we’ll be inviting all our participants to share their sunrise and sunset pictures on social media!
Whatever challenge you decide to take on, Simply decide how many miles you want to cover, set up a fundraiser and ask your friends and family for sponsorship. The money you raise will help to feed hungry children living in the world’s poorest countries.
5. Sign your colleagues up for a company-wide challenge
Every mile counts towards Malawi and another way of adding yours is by competing against your colleagues in a company-wide challenge.
Could you and your team run the virtual distance from one regional office to another? Can you launch a lunchtime running club and raise money for Mary’s Meals with your colleagues while soaking up the summer sunshine?
Make sure to inspire others by sharing your challenges and success stories in our From Dalmally To Malawi Facebook group, here.
