What is Feed A School?
Feed A School is an amazing way to help us reach more of the world’s poorest children with the promise of a daily school meal.
Millions of children across the globe miss out on going to school due to hunger. With Feed A School, you can pledge to provide nutritious, life-changing meals to an entire school for a whole year – giving hungry children the energy to learn and the chance to gain an education that can be their ladder out of poverty.
Why choose to feed a school?
Feed A School is a transformative way to give hundreds of vulnerable children hope for a better future. Providing life-changing meals for every child in a school has a huge impact, not only on the children, but on their families and wider communities. And feeding an entire school for a year is more achievable than you think – with Mary’s Meals, it costs just 10p a day to provide a child with a nutritious school meal. Whether you choose to donate as an individual, or fundraise together with a group of people, Feed A School is a powerful way to create lasting change.
You will have a real sense of connection to your chosen school and to the children you are helping, with regular email updates from the feeding programme and a final report from your chosen school at the end of the year.

Where can I choose to Feed A School?
Malawi
Malawi is where the Mary’s Meals story began. We served our first school meals here, more than 20 years ago, to just 200 children. One of the poorest countries in the world, Malawi faces huge challenges in education, access to healthcare and widespread child malnutrition.
Zambia
Zambia suffers from high rates of malnutrition, poverty and food insecurity, with many children out of school. For those children who are able to attend school, one million go to class hungry.
Our approach to school feeding
We have been delivering school feeding programmes since 2002, and we continuously develop and refine our approach to reach as many children as possible in the most efficient, effective and sustainable way.

Have questions about Feed A School?
Feed A School (previously known as Sponsor A School) gives you the opportunity to provide a year’s worth of nutritious daily meals for an entire school.. It’s an amazing way to have a positive impact on the lives of hundreds of children. We calculate the total cost to feed a school as the number of children enrolled in that school, multiplied by our current cost per child of a year’s worth of school meals which is just £19.15.
Full name, contact email address, the school selected, a project name and description and the total fundraising target.
Yes, as a business or corporate organisation you can be a part of Feed A School. When you register online, please select business or Community Group' and use the free text box to add the name of your company or group. No, the fundraising target is fixed for the 12-month period.
No, all Feed A School projects last for one calendar year. If your fundraising target is met before the end of the project, you will still continue to receive update emails until the project end date. If you would like to renew your support to feed your current this can be started once a project year is completed.
Our team would be happy to support you, contact us on 0800 6981212 or info@marysmeals.org.
Also why not look at our fundraising tips. Don’t forget to share your ideas and initiatives with us and we can pass them on to inspire other supporters too!
Yes, you’ll receive quarterly Feed A School emails to keep you informed throughout the year as you support your chosen school.
As some people may not be in a position to commit to funding the cost of an entire school, we have created Share A School which allows you to cover the cost of feeding a portion of that school (100 children) for a year.
You will still be allocated a specific school, but the fundraising target is set at the cost to feed 100 children (£1,915) and you will help cover the cost of feeding that school alongside others.
If you opt to Share A School, you will still receive our quarterly Feed A School email updates, as well as a final report on your chosen school at the end of the 12 month sponsorship period.
To take on Share A School please contact our Supporter Care team on 0800 6981212 or info@marysmeals.org.
You can feed a school in two ways – some people choose to fundraise, often alongside family and friends, to cover the cost of their school. This is a great way of bringing people together to create an amazing impact. We have lots of ideas of how you can raise money for your chosen school here: www.marysmeals.org.uk/fundraise.
Alternatively, some people choose to cover the full cost themselves or with friends and family as a one-off donation, or through multiple donations or regular gifts, including Direct Debits, throughout the year.
However you choose to feed your school, you will be provided with a personal fundraising page (which sits on the Mary’s Meals website), where you can pay in donations and keep track of your total. You can share this with your friends, family and colleagues.
If you wish to make a donation any other way (e.g. bank transfer/Direct Debit/ over the phone) please ensure you contact us so we can allocate this to your chosen school.
Provided a donation meets the usual Gift Aid criteria, Gift Aid can be applied which will ensure your donations go even further to support Mary’s Meals. Please note however that we are not able to allocate Gift Aid to a specific school, so the Gift Aid amount will not form part of your FAS fundraising total.
For support on reaching your fundraising total without including Gift Aid, what to do if you had included Gift Aid in your fundraising planning, or if you have questions about whether a donation is eligible for Gift Aid, please contact our Supporter Care team on 0800 6981212 or info@marysmeals.org.
Yes, and this is a great way to add to your fundraising page regularly. You can set up a direct debit, standing order or recurring card donation and we can link it to your project so that your monthly contribution will be displayed on fundraising page. You can also invite friends, colleagues or family members to set up a regular gift to help you reach your target too. To set up a regular gift, please contact our Supporter Care team on 0800 6981212 or info@marysmeals.org.
Yes, we have a wonderful team of volunteers who are always happy to provide support with talks in the community. You can request a talk using our online form.
Please contact our Supporter Care team on 0800 6981212 or info@marysmeals.org. to find out more.
Your fundraising target is the cost of feeding every child in a certain school every school day for a year. This is calculated as the number of children enrolled in that school at the start of thefundraising project, multiplied by our current cost per child for a year’s worth of school meals which is just £19.15.
No, your donations will be restricted to your selected country, rather than to your specific school. This is to ensure that every child in the schools which are allocated to the Feed A School programme can be fed, even if the enrolment number changes, or their allocated donor unable to raise the funds required. This model allows Mary’s Meals to be flexible and keep our promise to all the hungry children who rely on our school meals.
If you’re unable to reach your fundraising target, your chosen school will still be provided for and we will ensure that the children there will receive Mary’s Meals every school day. However, when you sign up for Feed A School, we do ask that you commit to your fundraising target as far as you possibly can.
If your efforts surpass your expectations and you exceed your fundraising target over 12 months, that’s incredible news! You will not be able to put this money towards another fundraising year if you choose to re-sponsor, but please be assured that any donations above your target amount will be used to feed hungry children in the same country as your chosen school.
Mary’s Meals does not own any of the schools where the meals are provided, and we cannot guarantee that enrolments or circumstances of your chosen school will remain the same from the start till the end of your fundraising year. There may also be rare occasions where we are unable to deliver school feeding in an area due to unexpected events. We will keep you informed of any significant changes.
