Our fundraising heroes make a difference to the lives of hungry children

We never cease to be amazed by the different ways that our supporters find to help us reach hungry children with a daily meal in school.

David Robertson recently took on a challenge to run four-miles every four hours for 48 hours.

On completion, the daring dad-to-be said: “I may only have slept a total of five hours during my 48-hour block. I think my lack of sleep during this challenge was good training for when the baby comes!”

David, who did the fundraiser in memory of his own dad who was an active Mary’s Meals supporter, added: “It does feel amazing to have completed what was a huge physical and mental challenge; it’s now time for me to start planning one for next year!”

This determination is echoed by teenagers Jessica and Isabella McGowan who braved the elements to each jog 140km over 40 days. The girls were moved by our Ethiopia appeal and wanted to help.

Youngsters from Painsley Catholic Academy in Staffordshire also went to great lengths to support our work to reach hungry children with the promise of a daily meal in school.

From holding sponsored silences, sky dives, to a climb of England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike, they raised more than £120,000.

A heartfelt thank you to all our supporters who are helping to give food, joy and hope to children living in some of the world’s poorest countries.

Here are some ideas for how you too can get involved in fundraising for Mary’s Meals.

It costs just £19.15 to feed a child for a whole school year.
