Children in Zambia

Thank you players of People’s Postcode Lottery!

Support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery is helping us transform more young lives in Africa.

Thanks to the amazing support of players of People’s Postcode Lottery, more than 2.5 million meals were served to hungry children in Africa last year.

By providing a daily meal in a place of learning, we are attracting chronically hungry children into the classroom, where they receive an education that can, one day, be their ladder out of poverty.

To date, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised more than £1.7 million for Mary’s Meals through the Postcode African Trust.

With player support, we have also been able to strengthen Mary’s Meals so we can grow and reach more hungry children.

Our UK Executive Director, Daniel Adams, says: “The People’s Postcode Lottery is an incredible force for good in the world. They raise hundreds of millions of pounds every year for wonderful causes and they’ve done amazing things through their partnership with us.

“With Mary’s Meals they have been able to donate, through the generosity of players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, £1.7 million over the life of our partnership. That’s allowed us to reach tens of thousands of hungry and impoverished children with a nutritious daily meal in school.”

Moses Makumbi, 13, from Malawi, receives Mary’s Meals. He said: “School is important to me because when I finish, I want to work as a doctor. Porridge enables me to go to class on a full stomach and after I eat and I never think of leaving school early.”

It costs just £19.15 to feed a child for a whole school year.
