Rahwa's story
When we first met Rahwa, her disability had kept her isolated, afraid to leave her home. A devastating civil war in Tigray, where she lives in Ethiopia, then threatened any chance she might have had of a brighter future. Yet, 12-year-old Rahwa has overcome those odds and today, she is thriving.
Motivated by the promise of a nutritious daily school meal, Rahwa and her brother started attending classes. Now, you can often find her in the schoolyard laughing and playing with her friends. Or in class, her concentration and energy fuelled by the life-changing meals she receives.
